Part-Time High School Internship Program Partnership Overview

This internship is part of the Academy of Mathematics, Science & Technology at Kennesaw Mountain High School. It offers high-achieving seniors hands-on experience in STEM fields while supporting their senior research project.

 

Duration: 11-13 weeks in alignment with partnership program
Schedule: Minimum 9 hours/week in office, 4 days/week through partnership program guidelines

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Spend approximately 70% of time on-site contributing to real-world projects aligned with your department’s work.
  • Dedicate 30% of time on-site to research for the student’s final senior project.
  • Collaborate with mentors to define meaningful contributions and learning goals.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and initiative in a workplace setting.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling proprietary information.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Senior in good academic standing in KMHS magnet program.
  • Completed advanced coursework in STEM subjects (e.g., AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus).
  • Proficient in research methodologies and workplace expectations.
  • Highly motivated, responsible, and able to work independently.
  • Able to provide own transportation to the internship site.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve. 
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders at client sites.
  • Must be able to work outside.

 

 Interview and Employment Requirements: 

  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) checks according to company and client policies.
